Temporary Lease

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 03 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
I would like to know if there is any specified duration of time for which Temporary Lease can be granted by A Government Body?

Can a lease for 30 years with 2 options of renewal for 30 years each by Land and Development office be treated as "Temporary Lease"?

It is important to mention here that full Land premium was paid by the Lessee at the time of granting of Lease and Lease rent was also fixed at 2.5% of the Land premium.

There is nothing called temporary lease under the eye of law. The period of lease depend upon the agreement between the lessor and the lessee. This is definitely a lease.

Thanks for your prompt response. Actually on an application for conversion of lease hold rights into free hold they rejected the same saying that Temporary Leases can not be converted. As per their policy
"All commercial and mixed land use properties allotted by the department of Rehabilitation, L&DO or the Dte. of Estate, for which ownership rights have been conferred and lease deed executed and registered" are eligible for conversion.
