recently i had a fight with my colleague in the office staircase...though no body saw it but they've seen us shouting..now the hr is asking me to resign or else they'll terminate me.. what should i do?? if they terminate me , will i get one month salary?

If they have decided to dispense with your services, it is better for you to resign considering your future. Your termination will have a serious impact upon your future. Discretion is the better part of valour.

If you are terminated for misconduct you can not claim one month salary. As Mr.Subramanian suggested, once your employer lost confidence on you, it is better to resign. If they terminate you, you can not get another job by showing your experience in this company.

Dear Manish,
As you said you had a fight with your collegue in office staircase, I would like to know the reason of the fight and was it you who was fighting or your collegue also had the same intentions to fight and beat you.
If it was from both the side, y only u who is being asked to resign. Is your performace also another factor for your removal?
Definately resignation is better than termination, but before that please try to communicate the nmatter why you had a fight with your collegue.
Chances are there that even your collegue also had somthibng to say on this and management can take a betetr decision to benefit both the parties.
