I am a PSU bank officer and my job is transferable every three years or may be less than three years. It depends upon the management to transfer me as per the needs of the organisation.I have got my own car/ vehicle and at the time of registration of my vehicle I have paid one time RTO tax as applicable in the state where the vehicle is registered. Now, I have been transfered to other state where the road tax is higher than the state where I have already paid one time RTO tax. Is it legally binding on me to pay the higher tax of the state if I want to drive my vehicle where I am transfered? Can RTO force me to pay difference amt of RTO tax? As my stay is for a temporary period. Please advice me on this matter so as to know the provisions of law.Is any judgement passed by any competant court related to the similar case/matter?

Not only payment of difference amount - you have to obtain NOC from the State in which the vehicle is originally registered, get it re-registered in the State where you are using the car by paying the difference of road tax if it higher. No case law is required.
Incidentally, I was a Bank Officer, purchased a scooter in the State of MP. When I was transferred to AP, I have obtained NOC from MP State RTA (at that time, in MP, life tax is not collected). I submitted the NOC and paid the difference tax (in AP Life tax was being collected) and got re-registration with new number.
Later after some time, again I was transferred to Maharashtra. There again this question came. But as it was a small town, I could convince the traffic SI that ours is transferable job and every time to get NOC and get re-registration is difficult. Unofficially he allowed me.

I want to know whether it is as per RTO rule of respective state or Motor Vehicle Act of State.

Properly advised by expert Mr. Malipedy Jagga Rao, i.e., a NOC has to be obtained from the previous state and get the vehicle re-registered in the new state by paying the appropriate taxes applicable to the new state.
