Whether an Indian citizen subsequently becoming another country's citizen acquire land in India

(Querist) 22 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
Dear experts,
Kindly clarify the following queries.
1.Can an Indian citizen subsequently becoming another country's citizen buy immovable property in India?
2.What is the status of the properties purchased by him before becoming a foreign citizen?
Tanks in Advance.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 22 December 2010
If any person has finished his citizenship of India permanently then he is not entitled to acquire any immovable property in India and he had purchased any such property while he was citizen of India then the same shall remain belonging to him.

But both the questions are fictitious because NRI is entitled to acquire and retain immovable properties in India and I think your status shall also be of NRI.

I agree with Mr.SKJ.
