you have to be registered with bar council to practise as a lawyer .
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 16 October 2011
Dear Mr. Sundaram,
One has to have a degree in Law recognized by the Bar Council of India and only then enrolment is possible.
If you do not fulfil the requisite eligibility condition, your filing a writ petition would not fetch you any result.
Sailesh Kumar Shah (Expert) 16 October 2011
I completely agree with both experts.

Dear Mr. Shonee,

Mr. Sundaram Kumar feels that since he is already a Registered Income Tax Practitioner, and though he is possessing BAL degree, he is not being permitted to get himself enrolled with the Bar Council. (Mainly because he was only having BAL and not LL.B.).

He feels that the actions of the Bar Council denying him enrolment is wrong and therefore wants to know whether he can get remedy by filing a Writ Petition.

Only on the above understanding of the fact situation and the question posed, I answered as under:

"One has to have a degree in Law recognized by the Bar Council of India and only then enrolment is possible.
If you do not fulfil the requisite eligibility condition, your filing a writ petition would not fetch you any result."
