Fined by court of law without a trail.

In 2005  I had a quarrel and minor fight  in drunken state with bank employee's out side bank around 5:00 PM. After which I was taken police station and my medical was done. I was let to go on suriety of my friends bike papers. After a month my friend got a phone call from court to pay a fine of Rs 1000.  Now i have to apply for govt job and make declarition that 1. were u ever arrested 2. fined by court of law 3. convicted.

After few discussions some told me that u were convicted as well as fined by court of law under summary trail.

I never appeared in court or infront of magistrate and pleaded guilty, no one did on my behalf. never recieved summons. just my friend payed the fine.

Can anyone be fined by court of law without a trail.

pls advice

No one can be punished without conviction, you were convicted only thereafter imposed the fine.
