Maternity benefit to resigned employee

Is it mandatory to give maternity benefits to an employee, who has taken the maternity benefit leave and then resigned?

Please provide precise details, category of employee (covered by ESI!), date of sanction/duration of maternity leave and the date of submission of resignation). These are essential for appropriate response.

I agree with Mr. Vasudevan, more detail is required.
