A Delhi court on Friday reserved its orders on a plea for lodging a criminal case against senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh for allegedly beating a man, caught after purportedly trying to attack party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi with a shoe last June.
Sunil Kumar Sharma, who had allegedly tried to attack Dwivedi on June 6 last year at the AICC headquarters, has filed a complaint for lodging FIR against Singh accusing him of beating him, along with others, after the incident.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jay Thareja reserved the orders after hearing arguments made by the counsel for Sharma.
“Heard arguments made by the counsel for complainant. Put up for order on April 3, 2012,” the magistrate said.
Sharma, posing as a journalist on June 6 last year, had come close to Dwivedi during a press conference, removed his shoe and had allegedly stopped short of hitting him with it.
41-year-old Sharma was later arrested by police under Section 107 (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquility) and Section 151 (disruption of public peace) of the CrPC.
Advocate Mohit Saroha, appearing for Sharma, told the court that the complainant hailed from Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan and had come to meet Mukul Wasnik, the Union minister and party affairs in-charge for Rajasthan, to lodge a complaint about the bad state of roads in his district.
