Punjab Police has arrested three police officials for allegedly helping a bank robbery accused and insulting the judicial court proceedings, police today said. Faridkot District Police registered a criminal case against ASI Harbans Singh, head constable Amrik Singh and local jail official Jiwanjot Singh under section 225-B, 228, 219 and 120-B IPC and arrested them. They were charged with helping Amrinder Singh involved in a bank robbery case of Bargari village near Kotkapura about seven-eight months ago and insulting the judicial court proceedings. According to official information, the accused was taken to the District Session Judge courts, Faridkot, on Friday. Both the police officials brought the accused to produce him in the court.

However, both the police officials brought back the accused to the jail without informing the court. When court called him, the defence counsel informed the Session Judge that the accused was taken back to the jail. The court immediately ordered a probe that under what circumstances the accused was taken back to the jail. The court called the SSP Faridkot, and both the officials rushed to the jail, where they found that the accused was admitted to the jail hospital. When the jail record was searched, it was found that he while returning back to jail was not entered in the jail record. The district police immediately registered a case against the two officials and one jail official for helping the accused on the ground of fake illness. The accused was caught red handed when he was trying to commit a robbery at a bank in Kotkapura area.
