The case on hand is - Transferee of second hand car failed to transfer insurance policy onto his name. Fire accident left the car totally destroyed. Accident happened 45 days after the regn., of transfer by the RTA. Insurance policy was subsisting at the time of accident. Insurance company repudiated the claim of the transferee of the vehicle stating that there is no contract between them.
The National Consumer Forum recently delivered a welcome judgement in favour transferee in a similar case along with directions to IRDA. I thank you all who can give me their valuable inputs - judgements, opinions and suggestions.
