Missing case records

Dear Experts,

Is it still possible for the defendants to recover a certified copy of the case records or even the current case status of a 8 year old criminal case, for which they had not appeared in court even after accepting the summons since an out of court financial settlement had already been reached mutually between both parties even before the first scheduled hearing, which appear to be mysteriously missing from the court register or might even have been expunged without their knowledge?

Thanks,

Kaushik.

That means case was not numbered and amount paid privately and closed the matter outside court.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Although the financial settlement had indeed been reached outside court but the case had been duly numbered as well. Could you  kindly explain why the records would be missing since the case had been duly numbered?

Thank you once again,

Kaushik.
