BIL+ Sister were involved in false 498a charges by wife. After coming clean, they plan for defamation suit. What are jurisdiction issues.
Wife made all proceedings in city X, but BIL lives in city Y, obviously he will like to submit his defamation at city Y. What the law says?

Where was he defamed. If he can show that some defamation took place at Y, which hurt his career and standing in the eyes of people in Y city, he can file a case there.

Any time limit? If yes, will it be counted from the date she submitted defamatory application to police, or the date police gave him clean chit?

1 year from the date of last defamatory word uttered/ written.
