Sir, I am aged 40 and my Husband aged 45. We have no children. Can I adopt our relative's son aged 28 now.

No. For adoption of a child, that child's age should below the age of 15 years.

Adoption possible it there is such custom in your family. Do not worry, Just adopt him. Love him and treat him as your son. Law is to facilitate to you and to remove difficulties and not to create difficulties. For sake of safety, make will of property in his name so that no legal lacuna remains left. There is no adverse consequence if you adopt a child over 14 year age. If adoption is invalid let it be invalid, It does not make any difficulty to you or your adopted son.
