Ban on campus placement by psu

(Querist) 26 October 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

Madras High court imposed stay on campus recruitment by public sector companies, but now public sector banks like Bank of Baroda,Punjab national bank etc has started their own course with Manipal university to Probationary officers post. This course for Post Grad. diploma in banking management which is of 1 year duration and they are offering guarantee placement with those students. This is one again against Act Right to equality ( fundamental rights recognised by the constitution ). Can we fill PIL against this.

How do u find it to be an act against Right to Equality?

In my opinion:

the course seems to be in the nature of in-house training, if the banks are preparing/ developing their prospective employees as per their need then I dont think there is any violation of law in it.

we have free market economy, every such institution has a right to have their own set-up.

According to the act, for every post in govt. sector, Any person who so ever want to apply is liable for this and hiring should be through open competition.

If we talk about such prog. which has recently been promoted by Bank of Baroda, PNB etc.,Such prog are just like similar to any other Management/ PG courses, even though applicants is paying fees for such prog, so we can't count such prog as in- house training. This is just like other management schools with one difference that concerned bank is taking exam. Anyways in India, IBPS is setup by GOI for hiring of Probationary officers in 20 Public sector banks which includes BOB and PNB.

Guarantee Placement to the admitted student is not violative of right to equality.
As they must be conducting some exam or have kept eligibiity criteria for seeking admission in the P.G Course. It is not that they are directly admitting the student for this course without conducting the exam or other proper fulfillment
