Can ig og registrar cancel the transaction which has been done by forgery?

(Querist) 13 October 2012 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

My land was sold by creating forged documents the same was reported and a FIR was filed under section 420,now all the records from the registrar office has been sent to the finger print expert for his opinion . police now says that once the get the report they would write it to the IG of registrar to cancell the transaction which was done earlier and it isnot necessary to wait for trail and judgement as a part of criminal procedure.

Does the IG of registrar has the power to cancell the transaction which was forged.

Only Civil Court has power to declare a deed to be null and void. The IG may make comment on genuineness of the transaction but not outright cancel the same. His report would anyway be helpful to get decree from the civil court.
