Changing residence to adjoining state while being on bail

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 10 November 2023 This query is : Resolved
Bail was granted by the High Court, while appeal against conviction is still pending there. Moreover, in another case, sentence was suspended by the Sessions Court during pendency of the appeal in the second case.

However, no conditions have been imposed in both orders.

• Can the person start staying in a neighboring state/area, over which the same High Court also has territorial juridisiction?

Sorry for being anonymous, but it is important.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 10 November 2023
If there is no condition imposed to restrict the movements of the appellant/accused by the court while granting bail, then he can very well reside in other place too, but he has to follow up with the case proceedings so that he is aware of the developments of the case to avoid any legal consequences if he misses out vital developments of concern

Thanks for clarifying.

What is the procedure to inform the High Court and Sessions Court, both being appellate courts in respective cases, regarding the change of address?
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 20 November 2023
You can inform your advocate about the change of address and then be in regular touch with your advocate for periodical updates.
