Clarification to pursue law degree (evening) after b.e.

(Querist) 28 June 2014 This query is : Resolved
I have completed my B.E. (computer science) 4 years graduation. Of late I m having interest in Law (to learn and also practice law).

1) Am I eligible to pursue law degree (evening)? If yes then do I need to attend Entrance Exam like CLAT?

2) Duration of the degree.

3)There are many divisions in law.Which one would be more preferable to Computer Science graduate?

1. Find out from the internet/other sources the universities are conducting evening (even distance mode as well) course of law.
2. Knowledge of law of the land is an added strength to your profile, which you will reap the benefit throughout your life (even next gen also), therefore, it is an intelligent decision, I appreciate.
3. Of course a graduate (any stream) can pursue 3 years degree course in law where some of the universities conduct their own admission test, find out from where you want to study.
4. Cyber law, corporate law and other fields are there for your choice depending upon availability in the College/University where you intend to complete law degree.
Best wishes.

You are an Engineering Graduate. If you are so seen to study law and go for practice, these precious four years in your life would become waste.
Ofcourse, you can study law - for that matter any student, should have the legal background which at least make him/her a responsible citizen in a democratic country. Having interest in law and studying law is entirely different to make it a profession. If you are so keen, join in a regular course, attain the law degree and jump into practice ignoring all the loss you sustain by studying 4 long years.
ONly to gain knowledge, you can study the law in any mode.
Yes,The Bar Council accords no recognition for BL/LLB through distance mode or evening colleges for practicing as an advocate. If you want to practice as a lawyer you have to necessarily enrol in a recognised college or university and complete the three-year course in regular mode.

I know one Engineer having Masters degree from US returned to India and later studied Law in Bangalore and then became Barrister from London and also took doctrate in law and now practicing mainly IPR field. If you are interested in law, you are welcome; join for regular course (not evening) and think of your profession seriously.
