Critic of a film - amounts to defamation?

(Querist) 02 May 2013 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

Suppose I write a very detailed personal letter stating my likes, dislikes, weakness, etc. of a film directed by a famous and successful Director, can he file any case on me for defamation or otherwise?
Guest (Expert) 02 May 2013
Not, unless any part of your writings defame him in person without your having any proof in support of your contention. Contrarily, if he finds sufficient material that is detrimental to his self respect, he can sue you on that account.
