I am facing a 498a case and my father in law has said they had paid me 4 lac cash, two day after marriage, that too after creating drama on marriage pandal.
Can i requrest below information.
Tax return of FIL. He is retired govt offical
Bank statement of FIL. re
I had read about RTI, but not sure about it.

He has to prove that he paid Rs.4 lakhs, you can cross examine him about IT return, of FIL etc.,You can also call the documents from IT dept. It is not necessary take under RTI Act.

You get opportunity in Cross Examination.
You can cross IO also , whether he called I tax Return to verify the statement.
You can produce your bank Balance also, that u never recd any amt, it does not reflect in increase of property or cash: so you did not receive anything.

You can ask for his Tax Return but unless it shows paltry or no income of your FIL, those documents has no value.

Make pray/application to the court for summon of ITR and bank statement.

You have to wait till the case reach the stage of evidence.
Your Father in Law have to prove his allegations with solid proof.
You can definitely ask for the sourse of the siad 4 lac rupees and his IT papers.
What you have read about RTI?? Its applicability??

They need to proove while cross examination. So you can wait till that time. More over I like to put my opinion regarding IT rtn.and bank balance or. Transaction that. He can have loop hole to give answer on it also
