Diff Between POA and LOA

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 11 November 2009 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

Can somebody detail me the difference between a Power of Attorney and a Letter of Authorization in its essence?

Thank you in advance.
A V Vishal (Expert) 11 November 2009
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE PER SE, THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS THE REQUIREMENT UNDER THE STAMPS AND REGISTRATION ACT. POA NEEDS STAMPING OF SUITABLE DENOMINATION AND CERTAIN KINDS OF POA ARE REGISTRABLE HOWEVER, THE SAME REQUIREMENT IS NOT APPLICABLE TO A LOA.

Authorization has limited scope whereas the power of attorney replaces the giver and authorises the POA holder to do all acts on behalf of its giver. Authorization generally denotes certain job/work
