First of all Happy Diwali to all honorable experts! Sirs, my wife abuses me and my relatives at our faces. Can I go for divorce on the basis of cruelty? If yes, then How much time the whole proceeding will take and How much will it cost to me?? What kind of evidences I shall have to produce before the court to prove "cruelty". Pls guide me.

Try to resolve the issue amicably if possible. If not you can file for divorce on the ground of cruelty, you'll have to prove the behaviour of your wife and that it amounts to cruelty to you. You can examine witnesses in front of whom she abused you besides your own evidence. How much time the whole proceedings shall take, nobody can tell as it depends upon various factors.

I agree with experts. No time limit is prescribed under the law. it depends on circumstance and pursuation of parties.

The allegations quoted can best be termed as normal wear and tear of conjugal life but not the cruelty. An action which is totally unbearable and which causes irreperable harm to the body or mind, which a sane person would not do,is cruelty.
