only mandatory deductions can be ignored from income 9i.e. PF, Gp Insurance etc).

One cannot be entitled to reduce his income by taking loan after loan

The earning of wife herself plays vital Role in determining the maintenance.

In your case you have a sound defense with you and possible the maintenance may be Rs 5000/- per month or even less.

Generally payment towards loan are not considered while arriving at the maintenance.

You have to pay maintenance for your child.
P. Venu (Expert) 24 January 2016
As the wife earning, you are liable for the child only. Repayment of loan is not a factor to be counted for ascertaining your income.

As your wife is earning Rs.50,000/- p.m. she is not entitled to claim maintenance. However, you have to pay maintenance to your child as fixed by the court and the loan borrowed will not be taken into consideration while fixing the maintenance amount to be paid to your child.
