I want to know the detailed procedure and eligibility to become an oath commissioner

A Lawyer having 3 years of practice but before 5 year can apply for oath commissioner. An oath commissioner is appointed for maximum period of 2 years.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE.BUT CAN U TELL ME THAT3 YEARS OF EXP IS REQUIRED IN P&HARYANA HIGH COURT TOO AS IN DIFFERENT STATES HIGH COURTS THIER ARE DIFFERENT RULES.
AND WHAT ABOUT NOTARY PUBLIC RULES.
CAN YOU GUIDE ME THAT HOW CAN I EARN SOME MONEY AS I AM A FRESHER WITH 1.5 YRS EXP.

Sec 3. Qualifications for appointment as a notary
No person shall be eligible for appointment as a notary unless on the date of the application for such appointment-
(a)a person had been practicing at least for ten years, or
(aa) a person belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes had been practicing at least for seven years, or
(ab)a woman who had been practicing at least for seven years, as a legal practitioner, or
(b)he had been a member of the Indian Legal Services under the Central Government, or (c) he had been at least for ten years,-(i) a member of Judicial Service; or (ii) held an office under the Central Government or a State Government requiring special knowledge of law after enrolment as an
advocate; or
(iii) held an office in the department of Judge Advocate General or in the legal department of the armed forces.)

I agree with sachin. To become notary 10 years practice as an advocate is necessary. 7 years for SC/ST.
In the year 2008 act is amended. Now appliction will be called and you will have to apply for the same.
Interview date will be intimated in the interview one from Central Govt., and two others from the High Court.
This system is introduced to avoid the political influence because prior to this amendement it was political appointment. Eventhough after amending the act political influence is not gone. Recently in Karnataka in our dist., due to influence of the Dist.,Consumer Fourm judge and local MLA's influence one lady got appointed as notary, because both are her relative.

So far oath commissioner is concerend, its rules vary from state to state and at present in Haryana, any fresher having a practice of only one year can also apply for the post of oath commissioner through the office of District Judge and Notary Public can be appointed only if the advocate has been practising for more than 10 years subject to due verification, recommendation and persueing the matter.
