EMAIL AS EVIDENCE

HI,
CAN ANY ONE HELP ME OUT BY TELLING THAT CAN A EMAIL FROM RECOGNISED GOVT. INSTITUTION CAN BE TAKEN AS EVIDENCE IN LAW IF YES , THEN UNDER WHICH SECTION OF WHICH ACT AND IS THERE ANY JUDGEMENT ON THIS ..

yes a email is an admissible document provided proved like any other record.

electronic documents are covered in the definition of Document in Evidence Act.

yes e-mail being an electronic record after duly verified by a government agency u/s 79 A of the IT act would be admissible evidence under law which can be seen u/s 45 A of the evidence act.

Section 79A of Information Technology Act which is duly admissible as an evidence like any other evidence.
