Manish Singh (Expert) 16 January 2009
yeah sure. a foreign national can work in india provided having a working visa is granted to them. you are a PIO but still you shall be a foreign national.
Adv.Shine Thomas (Expert) 17 January 2009
An American citizen of Indian origin can apply for OCI (OVERSEAS CITIZENS OF INDIA)cards.this allows him to visit, study or work in India. But he is not eligible for Govt.employment.For more information please visit:http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?

Yeah Mr. Thomas is right. either you can go for a PIO card or teh OCI scheme if you need to have other benefits and facilies. but these schemes are basically meant for retrieving the Indian origin people to India.
