My wife after 4 years of marriage took admission in some degree course in university.
There she used her parental sirname. The letter I received from university in that Km. Priyanka is written. Means not married.
She had given her address of parents in address of communication but when she filed 498A case against me she said that she was living with me.
Is Hiding marital status in university is crime? What action may be taken?
Please suggest.

You may inform the University, that she is married to you.
A Person can use any name, so using name is no offence.

No, not a crime but she must mention her marital status correctly.

Even if her original certificates contained her maternal surname, after marriage automatically her husbands surname gets affixed to her.But nowadays it has become a fashion for women to continue with the maternal surname, unless necessary. But as far as her marital status is concerned she has to mention in that particular column as married. In the place of her father, gaurdian name she has to mention her husband's name. That is the procedure for a married woman.

you should concentrate your energies on fighting 498 a case .
if your wife has surpressed fact of her marriage while taking admission in unviersity for some course at most you can inform them that she is married and has failed to disclose said fact .
rather than lodge complain try to see that 498 a case is dismissed
