Summons in criminal cases to appear as court witness

(Querist) 16 April 2013 This query is : Resolved
Background of the query:-
It's a criminal case and I am the accused. I need to examine some persons who are not named as Prosecution Witnesses. But the problem is these witnesses may not be truthful. And so I need a wider latitude to examine them (basically I need to overcome the restrictions imposed on Examination-in-Chief). Thus my query:-
Is there any way to ask the Court to summon someone to appear and depose as Court witness?
R.K Nanda (Expert) 16 April 2013
yes, file application for it in court.

You can do so only in your evidence but this is not always good to call such witnesses who can harm you. Let your lawyer decide whether to summon defence witnesses or not.
