How to apply for Patta in a workboard area. We are staying in this area more than 20 years, also upto date all the taxes has been paying to gov. More than 60 families are staying in this ares.The location is in chennai

Since you have been enjoying the property for more than 20 years by paying tax, you have the chance to claim prescribed title over the property on adverse possession by filing civil suit.
If your title is declared by the Court in favour of you, then you can move the concerned revenue authorities to issue patta by invoking the provisions of the Tamilnadu Patta and Pass Book Act.

Title is a question of fact than of documents. Possession itself is title unless it is totally erroneous.
However, a person cannot get declaration of title on the strength of adverse possession. Adverse possession could only be a defense in a suit for eviction.

It is better to approach the local revenue authority wit an application for issue of Patta on the basis of long period dwelling in the area, you will get proper clarifications thereafter.
