Is it legal to own a rabbit as a house pet in India?

The Government's decision had been taken to name " Leporids " (rabbit and hare ) as the fifth category of meat that could be consumed Legally in India.. The other four are Ovines (sheep ) Caprines (goat ) Suillines (pig ) and Bovires ( the cattle family including buffalo bison and cow )

When Consumption of Rabbit Meat is Legally Permitted in India there would be no Illegality in owning the Rabbit as House Pet as mentioned by you.

We dont eat meat. Just that whether we can keep rabbit at home as pet like we keep cat and dog.
