Ld. experts from Karnataka, pl let me know in which court a suit for damages [for defamation] of Rs. 3 crores in a rural area will lie..is it senior division judge's court or the district court? Thanks in advance.

It comes under the jurisdiction of the Senior Civil Judge

The pecuniary jurisdiction of junior civil judges is up to Rs. 1 crore and thus all other cases shall be filed directly in the court of senior division civil judges.

Its defends upon pecuniary jurisdiction of the courts in states as per their state civil courts acts.In a.p the junior civil is entitled to try the suits up to one lakhand the senior civil judge's jurisdiction is up to ten lakhs.more than ten lakhs,the district will try the suits.So pecuniry jurisdiction is depends upon the existing civil courts act in the respective states.
