This query is : Resolved
Hi,
Our family owns a property in our native place. My father came to Mumbai in search of a job. We are staying here for almost 30 years in Mumbai. In these 30 years my uncle who is younger brother to my father has built 2 floor building with his own money on family land.
Now the question is how can we get our own right of land in that family property? Are we still legally entitled to the property?
Thanks.

First of all, you have posted your query anonymously, which discourages the experts to respond appropriately. Secondly, your question is wrong, e.g., "family owned property," without making a mention, who is the actual owner as per property records, who are the claimant family members, whether the real owner is alive or not, etc.

I sincerely apologize to all,
I intentionally used the display name as "Anonmous" because i don't want to display my identity on web.
Ajay Sethi sir thank you very much for your reply. I sincerely appreciate that.
Also, Thanks Dhingra sir for your reply. To add further to my query, i have only these much details with me. I don't know on whose name the property is. My father says that my uncle will give us the share in form of another plot of land. But this i am hearing from childhood onwards but my uncle didn't given any plot of land. I don't want to spoil the relationship that why i am waiting for my uncle to act. I want to be already prepared if my uncle don't give us our share. Thats why i posted this question.

Facts of the case are a must to be known for seeking appropriate advice. Try to get necessary information somehow or the other from your uncle or his nears & dears. Otherwise, there is no use of asking for any help and you will continue to wait indefinitely for your share of property, as nobody prefers to give any share of property at his own sweet will.
