Is there any standard fees recommended by the Bar council in India ? Do the advocates in Delhi High Court charge as per their whims or as per bar council ? Do they charge as per no.of years of practice? Say 5-10, 10-15, 15-20 years? My friends lawyer charges him 1 0000 per hearing even when the judge is absent and with 5 cases going and 4 hearings per month & no sign of a judgement my friend will be reduced to penury with no justice in sight. Please suggest what to do.

there is no fee structure prescribed by any authority or law.
better would be to negotiate the fee with the concerned lawyer....if your friend is finding it tough to pay.

when you engaged your lawyer he must have informed you that my fees per date would be rs 10,000/ per date irrespective whether judge remains present or not .
you can request lawyer to charge 50%of his fees when judge is absent . in case lawyer is agreeable you can fix a lumpsum figure for entire case .

This all is a subject of agreement between client and lawyer and is not regulated by any authority.

You have first settled and than start complaining and the main problem is in the present time the way things move no body can give you time table for results.
