False dowry case

My cousin's wife is planning to file a false case of dowry against him and his family. She has been threatening them since a few months that she will file the false case of dowry. She has also been threatening to file a case of harrassment against the entire family.
My cousin's family is very afraid and was told to file a complaint with the police that his wife will file a false dowry case.
His family is skeptical about this as they dont want to anger his wife into actually filing the case.
- I wanted to know that if the family files this case will it be of any benefit when she actually files the dowry case.
- Is there any process to just file the complaint and no action is taken on it. So that his wife does not get to know about it.

There is no law to prevent to filing case u/s 498A whether the same is true or false.
If it is filed then remain vigilant and apply for anticipatory bail.

Nothing like desired is permissible in law. No case can be filed just on intention of the other party.

There is no use of filing the complaint and keep it without action. It shall never help and even can go against the family of your cousin who wilfully tried to prepare such defence.

Ans: It will prove that there was some disputes and disturbance in conjugal life and the husband and his family members perpetrated it.
2. Is there any process to just file the complaint and no action is taken on it. So that his wife does not get to know about it.
Ans: That is called General Diary Entry with local Police station. It will go against the husband as if he was willing to hush up the matter.
