i want to know the right a police officer have in this event.
my uncle construct house through local small contractor and after completing work .there is some dispute occur on payment issuue. after argument my uncle push that contractor out of house forcefully.
then that contractor call on 100 police complaint of physical hurting him.but contractor donot have any physical injury.
but police take contractor side and call my uncle to pay money as per contractor demand.
otherwise go to police station and sit there untill both party compromise.so my uncle have to give extra money for settle the matter.but feel cheated.
we have valid reason of non payment of partial money because of poor work. but i think it is civil matter.
so i want to know , what is role of police in this matter. and i have power to refuse to go to police station without arrest warrent.

Dear Priyanka
the contractor call 100 no. and tell about physical assulted by your uncle then the police could be registered a FIR against your uncle u/s 352 of Ipc.
for power and duties of police you should purchse an act/police act 1961

Your uncle would not have bow down against the illegal demand of the contractor and would have refused to the police authorities to pay as per demand as the same was a civil dispute to be decided by either labour court or consumer forum. When the payment has already been made then there is no scope left now before your uncle but to file a consumer complaint against the contractor in the name of poor quality of construction.

sir. police can force anybody to go to station without any arrest warrent. and waste our time by keep sitting in station until compromise done between both party.
what police can do if we refuse to go to station.

Police cannot interfere in a civil dispute. As regards to the criminal complaint, they can register an FIR and investigate. The civil dispute and the alleged assault have nothing in common.

POLICE are in habit to do what they can not do.
