Hi,
DV and divorce case between my wife and me are going on. My wife has claimed that I never paid any money for household expense. She submitted her detailed affidavit giving breakup of household expense, children's education expense, transportation expense etc.
While today her salary is good enough to take care of expense, but when I tried to calculate the past expenses by applying the inflation rate, i realised that her salary in the past was not sufficient to cover even her own expense.
Now the question is, will court accept the goverment's published wholesale Price Index based inflation and calculation of past expense using it? Can I also use the same argument in property case filled by my wife?
Will this be considered as a proper proof, or just an argument?
Kindly help..
Regards,
Ajay

Argument cannot travel beyond Evidence.
So to argue, first include those government's published wholesale Price Index based inflation and calculation in your Exhibited Documents.
It will help you, but marginally.
It will not have any vital impact on Judgement/ order

you have to deny the allegations made . let her prove her case that no money was paid for household xpenses .
if you want to rely upon govt based price index include it in your list of documents .

You have not clarified in what context your wife has filed affidavit on household expenditure. I don't hink the inflation is relevant to your DV case. But, if she is determined to get a divorce, any excuese can be put forward. Now that depends upon whether you want divorce or not. If you don't want divorce and want to contest that only then try to scuttle down her excuse on expenditure , otherwise there is no use of wasting time in collecting boring figures and wasting a huge time in calculations to correlate with the list of expenses.
Rest depends upon you and your own lawyer, if he can successfully and aptly link such figures.
