(Querist) 08 April 2014 This query is : Resolved
We have made a MOU for purchase of property, does it have to printed on stamp paper or does it require franking? Also what should be the amount of stamp paper or franking?
ajay sethi (Expert) 08 April 2014
you can either get document franked or get it typed/ printed on stamp paper .

amount of stamp duty would depend upon nature of document . you advocate would guide you on exact stamp duty
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 08 April 2014
MOU is not a compulsorily registrable document. So you can get it types on stamp paper of any denomination.
Karishma Mansukhani (Querist) 09 April 2014
Thanks for your reply. So, will it be ok if i get it franked for Rs 100/-?
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 10 April 2014
I think Rs. 100/- non judicial stamp franked on it will be sufficient for the purpose.
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 10 April 2014
Yes, it will be sufficient.

Do you mean a Sale Agreement?
Karishma Mansukhani (Querist) 11 April 2014
No Sir, not the sale agreement, but the MOU that is entered between the buyer and seller for purchase of property, before all other documentation work is done. i.e at initial stage.
