Dear Sir,
We are having granted M.A.4 Licence for storage and utilisation of Methanol (Methyl Alcohol) as a solvent/processing agent in our Bulk drug manufacturing process from herbal material. The product does not contain alcohol which is generally recovered from this process and re-used.
Now the State excise person said the you have to use Methanol (Methyl Alcohol) with mixing colour as per the order of UP State Excise vide 4960-5460/2-805/A/Mi.A./07.03.2010 under Poisonous Rules 1921 –rule 17. They are following the rule of Uttar Pradesh and not having their own rule yet. Other state is not having such rules and exempted for the same.
As our products are herbal in nature and is used in manufacture of drugs/dietary/food /Supplements/injectibles, any trace of external coloring would render our product unfit for human consumption and will no longer be saleable.
You are requested to please help and guide us with suitable circular and notification whereas Other state are not having such rules and exempted for Coloring of Methyl Alcohol for which we shall be very much oblige to you.
