Creidt card dues

(Querist) 31 March 2012 This query is : Resolved
I got a bill for my credit cardat for Rs.18,000/-. But, the same was not supported with any details. I called for the detals as I never swiped/used the card during those period. Bank acknowledged my complaint through e-mail, but never responded thereafter.
Recently i received a call from a recovery agent for the said amount. I told him the sitiation and that my complaint is still pending. But the agent says to pay the amount and recover it later. I refused. Now he called me again and threatened me with dire consequences. I too gave it back in words and told that i know how to react and that i am ready for anything.

Dear Experts, What can I do now to safeguard my interest. Even though I am ready for such things, I dont want to spoil my reputation in my locality. Kindly suggest a way out in legal way.

Issue a legal notice to the bank and file a complaint with the police.

Ask the bank to provide the details within 7 or 15 days of receipt of the notice. If the bank fails to respond again, then approach the RBI directly.

Dear friend,

Be a defaulter for personal loan, but never for a credit card. There is a big credit card mafia operating in all the states.I have seen many people due statements for the closed accounts also.I would not like to reveal the name of the banks, but in every private bank, this mafia is operating.Whether you use your card or not, every month charges get debited to your account. You will not be aware of it.Suddenly the recovery executive will appear with a statement, stating that you are due thousands of rupees.I am not trying to blow it out,but they create havoc at your house or office.Immediately contact the bank and ask them for the latest statement.Don't deal with mails etc. That it of no use.If they are not positive, launch a complaint with the banking ambudsman of your area, with a written complaint.Last month I have represented 3 similar cases with the ambudsman. They will immediately process your request and issue a notice to the concerned bank.

Don't leave them. Once investigated, iceberg will be seen behind your tip of 18k.

As suggested by my ld friends, issue notice, that instead of sending me details , you sent recovery man ??
First Give detail, as I did not use this card , and clarify it.
Then file Police Complaint for fraud.

SAINATH DEVALLA IS RIGHT BUT DO NOT SPARE THEM,DO LODGE POLICE COMPLAINT AGAINST BANK AND REALIZING AGENCY.
