We have an ongoing court case related to land in another city. We hired a lawyer who sent us Vakalatnama to be signed by us. In that it has been mentioned that he is authorised to collect or pay money on our behalf and to compromise and withdraw the case on our behalf.
May I know :
1) If lawyer without taking consent of client acts against client's interest, how can client protect his rights ?
2) If after few years (of settlement of case) we come to know the matter that lawyer has acted against our interest, can we go to higher courts ?

Position can be advised only after decision and the steps from the lawyer.
