contempt of court sec-12 1971

sir,
we have recvd a high cort summon stating the contempt of court. we were unaware of stay on a piece of land which we sold with consent of patwari and tehsildar. we were unaware that the petitioner had taken stay . how can we prove our innocense in the court and what are the maximum consequences.also ok we were unaware but how come patwari and tehsildaar unaware of the stay.

Unless you get copy of the plaint you may not be able to know whether and to whom or through which media the plaintif notified the stay order. So, please first get a copy of the plaint and then check what fault remained on your part or the Patwari or Tehsildar. The experts may not be able to provide the right solution unless for their information you make a mention about the facts of the case stated in the plaint.

Give your appearance before court, then proceed your case as per court's direction.. The stay grant mean surely you are might be intimated the same. So just found out that where was the default.
