Do i need to register my business unit ?

am a real estate agent from chennai , recently i have opened a realty agency office...do i need to register this ? do i need to obtain a sales tax number ? if yes, how much will it cost me ? whom should i contact ?

If your firm is a sole-proprietory one, you need not to register. (Even for partnership firm also registration is not compulsory, BUT, Advisable).

If your deals are less than the limit prescribed by the TN Govt, you need not to apply for TNGST number. To apply, e-filing provision is also available. Check the details at TNGOVT.NIC.IN

You are not coming under the sales tax act, you need not to take sales tax regn., you have to take the service tax regn. no. from the excise dept.,.
