Hello all, If there is a marriage between General category boy and SC girl or vice versa, what would be the status of child born out of such marriage? Whether he will belong to General category or SC category??

Children born to inter-caste couples are eligible to seek reservation benefits irrespective of the gender of the parent availing reservation or from the mother's linage also.

Child born out of inter caste marriage generally gets the caste of father only. However there are many circumstances when the child gets the benefit of backward caste reservations from his mother only. So unless you divulge your actual problem no further advice can be given.

The child can't claim the right of reservation. Only the girl retains the right to get benefit of reservation in case she marries a non-reserved category person.
However, if the girl is of general category and marries a reserved category person, her child will have the right to claim reservation benefits.
