Marriage Registration Document Required

(Querist) 17 April 2011 This query is : Resolved 
I was Married in 2008.
Recently I visited Ghaziabad Court to Register my Marriage. But the lawyer says You need to get a certificate from any gazetted officer/ SSP / CMO / Army Officer to certify your marriage first.

Than it will go to marriage registrar.

also he is asking for Rs. 3000/- for the entire process.

Please Guide.

yes, need any one of the certificate from there officer, it will take some amount for fees.

Following are the requisites for Registration of marriage-

1.Proof of age of both
2.Three joint photographs.
3. Some ceremonial photographs.
4. Joint Affidavit.
5. Certificate as described in the last of application from a gazette officer or Gram Pradhan or Pramukh Kshtra panchayat or other public representative, that he knows you both.

You can find the format of application and requisite formalities in SCHEDULE A of UTTAR PRADESH HINDU MARRIAGE REGISTRATION RULES 1973. Please read carefully the form prescribed on link below.
