(Querist) 22 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
Ours is a trust registred in Mumbai and we are now engaged in a massive eye pledge campaign. We are likely to recieve donations from individuals in US, in us dollors. Is there any permission required to accept such donations? if so, what are they and who is the authority to issue permissions?

Thanks in advance

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE DONATIONS THE TRUST MUST BE REGISTERED UNDER THE FCRA ACT, WITHOUT WHICH YOU WILL ATTRACT GOVERNMENT ACTION FOR CONTRAVENTION OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE ACT.

1. What is the procedure for FCRA registration?
2. Whether Regn of a society / trust with charity commissionor will automatically cover FCRA Act?
3. Whether smaller amounts ( USD 100) by individuals also attract FCRA?
4. what is the minimum amount we can recieve without FCRA registration?

Please visit a professional dea;ing with registrations under FCRA for complete details since time & space do not permit explanation in detail.
