Dear Experts,
This maintence act is an excellent act to safeguard senior citizens.But it is disheartening to see that this act is eventually misused to take revenge.

express your inability to pay rs 30 ,000 a month . you can make a statement that as long as your mother is alive she can stay with you . all her medical bills , her day to day maintenace will be done by you .
the court does have power to cancel the settlement deed on baais of your mother application . but if you make a statemeent on affidavit that you will take care of her the court may consider said fact into consideration before passing any order the wlwfare of senior citizen is of utomiost priority .

In addition to the advice of sethi, I further suggest you to file an appeal against the illegal impugned order/option as the same is nothing but a biased attitude of Presiding Officer. You can plead every option by way of an affidavit in your appeal. Even you can demand the equal distribution of maintenance allowance among all 5 siblings instead of you providing the details of the properties sold and enjoyed by those siblings in the past.
