Rti -2005

(Querist) 26 August 2012 This query is : Resolved
If we want to know that whether any complaint/ F.I.R / criminal information is pending against "some one" in any of the Police Station/ Economic Offence Division or any of the Delhi Police Department, in Delhi,

do we need to file the RTI application in all the Police Station(s)/department(s), or filling a single RTI in Delhi Police (HQ), would be sufficient and they would reply by consulting their division(s) within the stipulated timelines.

Please reply.

Sir,
Make an application under RTI-2005 to the HQ, requesting very clearly for specific information, and including the under cited paragraphs therein:
[a]Kindly arrange to furnish required information within stipulated time limit under the provisions of RTI Act, 2005. I will pay the necessary charges towards making Xerox copies, postage etc. as per the Maharashtra RTI Rules after the amount is made known to me along with proper bill / voucher.

[b] If the information sought by me is voluminous, then I am willing to visit your office to inspect the records, files etc (u/s Sec. 2 (j) and Sec. 7 (9) of the RTI Act 2005) at a mutually convenient date and time.

[c] If you want to deny any of the information sought by me then please quote the exemption clause of Section 8 (1) and a brief reason as to how it applies. This is a requirement of the RTI Act, as per section 7 (8) (i) read along with Section 19 (5).

[d] If any of the information sought is available with any other Department, then kindly transfer the copy of the concerned query to that Department and promptly inform me in writing of the same, giving details of the Department to which it is transferred. [ See Section 6 (3) (ii) ]

[e] If the information, sought by me, needs to be extracted from a file etc., then it should be done as per Sec. 2 (j) (ii) of the RTI Act 2005.
Regards,
Kishor Mehta
