Q)my wife had filed domestic voilence case. yesterday court order maintenance of RS.5800/month.backlog is abt 1 lac. my salary is 17000/month. i want to knw is amt of maintenance is ok.secondly what is the procedure of giving backlog.thirdly what will be next proceeding in this case?

Rs 5800 is reasonable considering your income of Rs 17,000 per month . order is from date of filing of application . hence you have to make payment as per the order .pay or your wife will take out application for execution

pay by cheque . send it with a covering letter . obtain her acknowledgement

PAY IN COURT
Ask Court to grant payment by instalment. Pay slowly , bit pay at least a thousand per month. Do not commit court contempt ..

I shall also suggest to PAY IN COURT REQUESTING THE COURT TO ALLOW YOU TO PAY ARREARS IN INSTALLMENTS.

if you were judge then how much maintenance you would order against a person having salary of Rs 17000 p.m.?
