Dear Xperts,
I am writing this to create some awakening amongst our professional colleagus. A very wide area of practice under Direct and Indirect Taxes is being slowly and mischievously being snatched away from the domain of lawyers.
You would find that every where in income-tax and State VAT, an audit report is required to be signed by CA.
A lawyers is barred from signing a simple Audit report under section 44AB or under State Vat, which requires only reporting about compliance of various statutory provisions and does not need auditing in real sense.
New ITD Portal has created an interactive window for CAs to get themselves registered on the Portal as professional, CA but no such similiar advantage is given to lawyers, whereas the Advoates all over India file more returns than the CAs.
Is it not the High time for all of us to unite and raise our voice against the discrimination by the Finance Ministry, other wise in the time to come, we shall be deprived of a great opportunities.
Pls post your comments.
Thanks

I fully endorse the views of C P chugh. This is the need of hour to come on a single platform and raise our voice against such discrimination with the lawyers.
Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad is organizing All India Confrence on 26th to 28th December 2012 at Bhubhneswar wherein I am also taking part and I do assure to raise this issue there and shall demand to chalk out a strategy to ensure justice with lawyers who devote their lives for ensuring justice for others.
I also invite the views of all other Ld. experts on this matter.

I too endorse your views & Mr. Makkad's. It's high time to form a single consortium to escalate our concerns.
Ministry of Corporate Affairs website (MCA) also doesn't recognize lawyers in their websites, while CAs and CS are permitted to login. I have tried several forums on this issue, but, in vain.
Property registration field is fully occupied by Document Writers, who are the root-cause for corruption in Registrar offices and trouble to common public. On the lines of 'Registrar of companies', if property registration is also done through online, 90% corruption can be eliminated. Unfortunately, we still follow the 1908 Act of Registration and no one has taken any steps for amending this Act as well to initiate steps for online data compilation of property and it's registration. I have raised this issue with Central and T.N. State Govts and hoping for a solution in days (years!) to come.
If we Lawyers unite ourselves, we sure can achieve results for betterment of our profession and society.
It is surprise as to why our professional bodies like BCI and Bar Associations never interfere on these issues!
