(Querist) 24 March 2013 This query is : Resolved
sir,
I am working in an autonomous body under central govt. Now i have been selected in PSB. I have not informed my employer at the time of applying and subsequently i passed the interview and got selected in PSB. Shall i resign the previous job by citing the new job as reason for leaving or else can i resign citing the reason as personal grounds? Which one is better? I have not yet joined the new organization. pls. guide me.

It shall always be good to speak truth if the same is not going to harm you to such an extent that the loss shall be irreparable.

Your position is likely to become auckward. If you state the actual reason of selection in the PSB, you can be subjected to disciplinary action for your misconduct of neither applying through proper channel, nor giving intimation about that, nor for attending interview, as per the provisions of the conduct rules. The CPSU may even refuse to accept your resignation.

On the other hand, if your new employer asks you to submit your relieving letter from your present employer, if you happened to make mention in the application, as your present employment, you would not be able to produce that on account of the reason mentioned above.

Better be sure at first that the new employer does not ask you to submit experience certificate, if you apply for resignation on personal grounds.
