sir, What are the judicial protection available against the defamation and what are the maximum punishment available to the accused.?

u can claim damages for ur defamation by sending legal notice to him.u can also file

criminal case in court.

Instead of thinking about last step of punishment etc. think about first step. You should serve a legal notice to him and should demand the withdrawal of his defamatory comments about you publically failing which to face criminal complaint.
